Fundamentals of Music
Prerequisite: None. The following courses are also available as group classes.
This beginning music theory course prepares students to approach any instrument. It lays a foundation for every other course offered at the Academy. The student will learn to read music and the basic procedures for notating it. Materials used include the Bastein Music Flashcards and Master Theory by Peters & Yoder.

Theory
Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Music or Passing Theory Placement Test
This is an intermediate level course which exposes the student to more of the elements that govern the music system. the recommended text for the course is the Master Theory series by Peters & Yoder.

Harmony
Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Music or Passing Theory Placement Test.
Harmony is an advanced theory course which will teach the student more about how to apply the musical language. Harmony analyzes what composers do and explains how and why they make their compositional choices.
